Nacho was used by drugs dealers to disguise their operation.   He was beaten and starved. When he was picked up by the Humane Society he was skeletal  and terrified of people.  He has lived at Windswept for 15 years.

Everything I need to know, I learned from animals:  Listen carefully.  Speak softly...and no sudden moves.

About Us

Our shelter deer  were

exhibited on a Christmas tree farm.  When the farm closed, they were scheduled for slaughter.  They have lived at Windswept since 1997.

Pot bellied pigs often find their way to Windswept because

people get tired of them when they get big.

Frank and his brother, Incense, spent the first 1 1/2 years of their lives in a small garage.  Today they work in our live nativity and petting zoo to help remind people about the responsibilities that come with pet ownership.

Snickers came to us extremely thin and lame.  Her owner had lost

interest in her.  After 3 months of therapy and nourishment, she roams freely on our 40 acre facility and acts as our animal ambassador.
